Re-imagined

In 1980, the Royal Air Force issued the Newmark Chronograph to its aircrew.  The Newmark was one of four asymmetrical chronographs of the period and arguably the rarest with just 500 at most being built. Vulcan, Harrier, Sea-King and Tornado crew would count amongst those who relied upon their Newmark.

Timeless

The roots of the Newmark Chronograph date back to 1969. They were the epitome of form follows function, military watches at their purest. In 1983, British Military Chronographs were updated to Seiko quartz models; more reliable without doubt but lacking the vintage feel (and distinctive shape) of the originals which were to become known as ‘The Fabulous Four’.

Exclusive

Now the Newmark Chronograph is back and updated; a worthy successor to the original, the Newmark 6BB retains vintage charm but combines this with a modern quartz movement – appropriately Seiko.  The Seiko VK64 is a quartz movement with a mechanically actuated chronograph – the engagement and disengagement of the chronograph is achieved through the use of levers and cams – just like the old days.

Details

The icing on the cake is that the central chronograph seconds hand ticks five times per second – again, like the movements of old. Given that the VK64 has no constant seconds hand, then there is no outward indication that it is in fact a quartz watch. The 6BB bears an officially issued NATO Stock Number: 6645-99-870-5073 and comes complete with Admiralty Grey NATO strap.
